Small groups of 6, 2-hour weekly sessions and real equipment — taught by working photographers and filmmakers.
Taught by Alden, founder of WaffleBox Productions, with years of experience shooting graduations, events, food and products. Students learn how the camera works, then how to see — light, framing, people and moments — and finish with work they're proud to show.
Join at the start of any month and stay as long as you like. Every assignment comes in three levels — new, returning and experienced — so beginners and long-standing students work on the same theme side by side. Each student builds a folder of their best work as they go.
How the tool works: lenses against human vision, camera types (with a Polaroid developing on the table), handling, cards and why RAW matters.
Assignment: Photograph one person at three focal lengths — and watch the background change completely.
Hard and soft light, direction, and exposure — aperture, shutter speed and ISO as three ways of controlling light.
Assignment: Make one ordinary object look like morning, then midday, then a horror film.
Composition as decisions, not rules: distance, angle, and what to leave out.
Assignment: Make one cheap object look expensive, then lonely, then menacing.
Portraits — putting a subject at ease, shooting from the right height, and one-light setups. Students photograph each other.
Assignment: Shoot your partner as the hero of a film, then as the villain.
Food and product photography: surfaces, angles and lighting a small subject.
Assignment: Photograph a plate of RM8 food so it looks like it cost RM50.
Shutter speed and anticipation — photographing things that won't wait.
Assignment: Catch something at the exact instant it can only be caught once.
Culling at volume, then editing: exposure, colour, crop, and knowing when to stop.
Assignment: Cut your best hundred frames down to ten — then defend the ten.
Taught by Zimin, who brings a filmmaker's eye to every project — from concept to final cut. Students shoot, edit and finish a real film, learning to turn raw footage into stories worth watching.
